As a partial season ticket holder, allow me to chime in. First, on any given night, anywhere from 5% to 60% of the people in the stands are rooting for the opposing team. I was at the recent game against Washington – which was a sellout – and I would, conservatively, estimate the Caps fans to be 10% of the crowd that night. I have seen games against Detroit and Pittsburgh where the opposing fans take over Nationwide. I don’t blame the season ticket holders for selling. Might as well get SOME $$$ back for your tickets when you can. Second, the Jackets just ran a 50% off promotion for all season ticket holders – including partial plans – for all the remaining games and all the seats with the exception of the Time Warner lounge seats and the suites. You get dinner, ice cream, private bathroom, etc., with those, so they were not going to sell those at 50% off. But I picked up tickets in the fourth row, two sections down from center ice, so damn good seats were available. I know LOTS of season ticket holders, myself included, that bought the 50% off tickets for friends and co-workers who were more than willing to go watch the Jackets lose for 50% off. Hey, seats 10 to 15 rows up from the ice for $40, makes crappy hockey a LOT more tolerable. Finally, remember a lot poor saps thought that Carter and Wiz were the final pieces of the puzzle. I, personally, never bought into that, but to be fair, I also never expected that the Jackets would be THIS bad. So, a decent number of tickets were sold for every game PRIOR to seeing what a disaster this team is on ice. I think it’s safe to say if they offered refunds on season tickets, Nationwide would have been damn close to empty until they started the 50% promotion. .

They average 14,000, a little more than 8000 and I highly doubt 8000 people got free tickets. Talk out of the wrong end much?

Uh oh. When a GM and agent say “he ain’t going anywhere” it is usually time to call North American Van Lines. Why would any top tier player want to stay with a losing club and play in front of 8000 people, most of whom have their arses in the seats because they got in for free?
