Comments on: Big House in the running to host 2013 Winter Classic

I went to the Big Chill at the Big House and sat in several different areas. There is not a bad seat in the Big House at all; even for hockey. Sitting in the nose bleads at the Big House is no different than sitting in the upper row at JLA for a wings game. If the Wings end up playing the Habs or Leafs it would be amazing; that stadium would be packed. It will most likely be a strict USA game seeing as how the NHL hasnt put a Can. team in the winter classic yet since all it is is a marketing ploy for the league.

At least the NHL know to keep it going with Original siz teams and original 12 teams playing. Teams like San Jose, PHX, Columbus, and any team out west and below New York won’t fill a 50k seat stadium. If Ilitch let’s this happen at the Big House it would be an amazing game and one of the most amazing venues in all of sports. Geux Blue and Go Wings!

“Even the front row seats will need binoculars” and people will pay thousands of dollars to sit there. That’s why the NHL does it. This actually confirms my suspicions that the NHL would prefer to play this game in a football stadium due to the increased capacity.

Seriously people these games are terrible ideas. If there are outdoor rinks somewhere that resemble indoor areans, minus the roof, fine. But putting a hockey game in a stadium is absolutely retarded.

I’ve been thinking there actually might be a decent chance that the Sharks would be the opponents if the Wing’s are hosting considering the playoff match ups the last two years. If that were to happen I would without a doubt make the trip there along with several of my friends.

Rub it in to the Leafs and convince their fans to make the trip.

Who ever they play will have to be a nearby opponent. 100k is a lot of seats to fill.

@letsgo…It would never be a bad thing to play a hockey game at the Big House. No other venue in the country equals it at being ready, willing, able, and skilled at handling that size of a crowd. How about Red Wings V Sharks? The west-coasters might even brave the trip for that one.
