What do you expect him to say? "Fuck me. Here we go again." ?

There have been bright spots for the Oilers this season, especially given the state of things in recent years. The low points of the season so far just proves how far this team has to go. There's a lot of growing up to do, and with that comes consistency.

I would hardly call it "rose-colored glasses", Mr. Yerdon. All he said was that when the defense is healthy and the goaltending is up to par, this team can compete and win. Every Oiler fan knows that the d-line needs bolstering. And we all know it's a long way to a playoff team, let alone a Stanley Cup. Of course everyone would like instant results, but that's not how it goes. If you want instant results then I would suggest microwave tv dinners.

And delusional isn't the word either. What was delusional about his statement? “If you look at our team when our defence is healthy and our goaltending is the way it was then, that’s the type of hockey I think we can play.” Nothing too outlandish.

As an Oiler fan, this season all you hope for is competing for a playoff spot. Delusional is a word that you should save for fans who expect a Stanley cup every year. Unless you're a fan of the Red Wings, because (and let's be honest here) they have a legit shot every season. But that's another story.
