For a guy everyone was hopeful would bring hardline justice, he’s seemed soft and inconsistent, having not yet handed out any particularly harsh punishments yet and having let people off for blatantly illegal hits more than once. This is a chance to recover – you have a known cheapshot artist outright mocking you, throwing three illegal hits in less than a week and completely ignoring your (laughably tiny and irrelevant) fine. Knock him on his ass. Twenty games. Or more, I could stand to see it go higher. See if he doesn’t clean up his act after THAT. See if the OTHER problem guys don’t play a little nicer after that kind of display.

Of course, that’s what he’d do if he were interested in being GOOD at his job. Torres will get a single-digit number like everyone else, because Shanahan’s not actually going to suspend anyone long enough to matter. He doesn’t appear to have the balls.

I hope they throw the book at this rat. Obviously the $2,500 fine from the last hit didn’t make him think twice. Suspend him for at least a month, maybe the rest of the season.
