The article on the World Juniors was great. Such pretension there is about that tournament. Everything's so serious, everyone's so dour and grim and religiously obsessive about political correctness. Grill the Canadiens about running up the score, because that would be mean to the other countries. Grill the underdog goalie for animated celebrations, because this is serious business and you have to go about it in a respectfully sombre and emotionless way. Fuck that. Like he said, if the Canadian forwards can jump into the boards every time they score, an underdog goalie can celebrate however the hell he wants after doing his best impression of a young Dominic Hasek. He earned it.

Like the columnist said - they're kids. Even the guys who lose get to have fun being there, playing great hockey against the best teams they can encounter at their age. There's nothing like it outside the Olympics and the NHL. Relax, enjoy, have fun for God's sake. The fans and reporters need to collectively unclench their sphincters and remember that sports are SUPPOSED TO BE FUN. I mean, really - if us fans celebrate Cup and medal wins like we do, why in the hell can't the players celebrate their accomplishments? It's not like us guys out in the stands are responsible for it. If the players who did the work and pulled out highlight-reel performances to earn the win want to celebrate, let 'em do it however the hell they want. Unlike the reporters and the booers in the crowd, they actually did something other than sit on their ass all night.
