If not for the late Reimer-led run we probably would have been giving another top 5 pick to Boston. Face it, the Leafs simply have not had a squad that has been able to legitimately compete in the “new” NHL until this year.

Same as Burkie. We enjoy that aspect of him, trust me. But last year’s squad had a good shot at the lower seeds and ended up one of the bottom-ten teams. No, they were nowhere near a Cup contender yet, but they had the parts to make the postseason. And when everyone on the ice looks like they’re underperforming, part of the blame goes to coaching strategies. I mean, it’s either “The coach is part of the problem” or “Every single player is individually, coincidentally and simultaneously underperforming.” Which is more likely?

He’s not the cheeriest fellow but he handles this young team well and laughs in the face of any scrutiny he receives from the know-nothing media.

I guess most fans don’t realize that the Leafs haven’t made the playoffs with him behind the bench because those teams have sucked, not because of anything Wilson did or didn’t do.
