At this rate they're going to have to go on a hell of a streak to beat the PANTHERS in points.Seriously, when last year's third-worst team is seven points up on you in your own division and you're the reigning champions, you are fucking up spectacularly. Clearly Boudreau wasn't the problem. And though everyone agrees Semin is awful and he's getting shot out of a cannon at the end of the year, that's still not enough to take the four-time reigning Southeast champs to such a low point that they may well be edged out of a playoff spot outright because three bottom-ten teams in the East are playing better hockey than them. When are people going to start blaming the OTHER "star" for his godawful performance? When just about half of all top-six forwards in the NHL are scoring more often than your nine-million-dollar "superstar" scoring winger, the man who's supposedly the best goal-scorer in hockey... well, sooner or later he's going to have to take responsibility for that. How many more games do the Caps feel like losing before admitting that Boudreau WASN'T the problem and that all these excuses - a defensive system, other teams "figuring him out," whatever - don't actually make anywhere near as much sense as "Alexander Ovechkin just isn't trying that hard anymore"?
