First, thanks for not saying whether or not it was a goal. I watched the clip without knowing the outcome or having any bias. To me it was a goal. Also, the announcers made the observation, and you can see it in the clip, contrary to the article, the officials did NOT make a call one way or the other. The referee simply put his hands up to stop time (and possibly say, "I don't know").

i'll say no goal. the only evidence the puck is over the line before van der gulik taps it home with his stick is from going frame by frame at 1:18 in the video. you can't tell when the net is off, but you can maybe see a sliver of white ice between the goal line and the puck. that isn't the greatest camera angle to make that call from though. going frame by frame at 1:50 in the video, the only time the puck is clearly over the line is after van der gulik taps it in with his stick, and the net is clearly off before that. put them together and you have evidence that the net was off before vdg played the puck, and evidence that the puck may have been in before vdg played the puck. that to me would seem to indicate the net was off before or at the same time the puck got across the line.

should the on ice call have been overturned? i'm not sure there is enough evidence for that, but i think the better original call would have been no goal. and i think a no goal call would have held up on review just the same as the goal call did.

Absolute goal....and would've been a penalty shot if they disallowed it, for the defense pushing their own goal off the moorings.

Horrible defense attempt. It's not like Mac had a huge lead on them either, they just blew the back check as Joe said.

I say it's absolutely a goal. One, it does seem as though the puck gets across the line just before the net is unhinged, and goalie interference shouldn't even be a question as all the people that hit Elliot, as well as landed inside the net with him, were all his teammates, and it was due to their own will. Does it suck that a game is decided on a play like this? Yes, however this happened in the 2nd Period, if anything, the Blues have a shotty offense to blame for not putting more pucks in the net. Elliot is on fire this season, but most of his wins are 2-1 2-0 or such cause his team can't score.
