This incident led to a confrontation between Cooke and RDP on 2/2/11 which led to the goalie fight which led to the 2/11/11 brawlgame.

The recent Montoya injury marks the second time he has been injured by an opposing player and the third time an Islander goalie has been injured by an opposing player this year. In each instance, an Islander goalie was deliberately run by an opposing player.

If the NHL does not step in and protect goalies, their teammates will. This will lead to more brawlgames. Is that what the NHL wants? After the 2/11/11 episode, the hypocrisy was so thick, you could cut it with a knife. If the NHL does not act now, then it loses all standing to criticize teams who act to protect their teammates.
