PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Joe Pavelski is a hero to the Sharks, but even getting down 4-2 at home to the Avalanche can motivate him and the Sharks to storm back to victory. (Working The Corners)

Seen Steve Stamkos? The Flames sure saw enough of him after he helped the Lightning win 5-4 in overtime. (Lightning Strikes)

Kirk Muller is using a peculiar strategy to help the Hurricanes power play. He’s showing them how the Canadiens do it. Er… OK Kirk, whatever you say. (News & Observer)

Eric Lindros has some ideas how to help curb concussions. Question is: Will anyone listen? (

Alex Ovechkin scored a goal last night. Even better still, it was the only one of the game as the Caps shutout Winnipeg. (

St. Louis’ Patrik Berglund likes keeping it simple. It worked against the Rangers pretty well last night. (Post-Dispatch)

Martin Hanzal having a goal disallowed poorly helped motivate the Coyotes to storm back against Edmonton. (Ice Chips)

Finally, get a look at the goal Ovechkin scored to win it for Washington. Having a shot like that is totally unfair. (NHL)

that ovechkin goal was classic. winnipeg fans were booing him all game and toward the end of the 1st period craig laughlin even said on the broadcast “why are these fans booing him when he is just going to burn them”. sure enough, late in the 3rd period…kudos to 8.
