Phanuef saw Numbers the whole time. HE had enough time to read the name on the back of the jersey before blowing him up into the boards. Penalty deserved.. Suspension very possible. Fact Kassian didn’t get hurt will minimize the possible suspension. 1 game.

This looks like a blatant attempt to slam Kassian’s head into the glass, and certainly deserves at least a 2-game suspension. Since Fanoof is a pretty boy, he probably will sit for 1 game, if any. If the Sabres had signed McGratton, cowards like Fanoof and Loocheech wouldn’t be taking cheap shots at the Sabres.

Nothing weird about it. Watch Phaneuf’s arms. They follow through all the way to the point of Kassian’s contact with the glass and boards. He’s a strong man, and that was a strong push.

Kassian did not see the hit coming, could not react/defend himself. Hit was “slow,” but push was brutal, between the numbers, and bloodied Kassian’s face against the boards. In this case, Phaneuf has got to let up – not just in his skating, but with the shoving.

Easy call for Shanahan here. I’d expect 1-2 games.

Does that look weird to anyone else? The slow-mo review looks like he’s skating up slowly, slowly pushes him, and then the dude EXPLODES into the boards.

Maybe it’s just me, but it looks really weird, like defying physics weird. Phaneuf has rocket gloves, He-Man like Strength, or Kassian exaggerated more than intended and busted his own face by accident.
