Anyone who has actually watched Avery this season knows he's toned his rhetoric way down and has contributed more to the team than Christiansen, Wolski, and Rupp combined, yet Torts will give a roster spot to those clowns ahead of Avery any night of the week. It's a shame.

Also, anyone who's watched the Rangers this season should have noticed that this squad is the best one on the ice in a long time. Balanced scoring, some young studs on defense, and everyone is playing inside Torts' system. Get Staal and Sauer back on the ice and you're talking about a team that can compete with the NHL's elite teams. He's not a prefect coach by any stretch, but I'd take him over 95 percent of the NHL's other coaches.

While Avery may not have a spot on this team, or any for that matter, does Tortorella? The Rangers have finished 4th in the Atlantic 2 out of his 3 years (3rd place last year), with a 4-4 playoff record and 2 quarterfinal exits (to include blowing a 3-1 series lead against the Caps in 2008-2009).

While Avery may not be of use to the Rangers, I fault 50% of that on a stubborn coach who hasn't got the most out of a talented team in his 3 year career with the team.

Did you say under any other coach he would be top two lines??! I'm pretty sure the only top lines Avery has are fashion lines or white lines; all the power to him but definitely not competing for an NHL salary. Loved his obvious disgust for the Anisimov ridiculousness but should have said something given his precarious place on the team.

You're right, Torts doesn't like him, which is completely understandable. Guy is just a total clown and often a disgrace to the game. Under any other coach he would not be playing at all either seeing as he was put on waivers and nobody wanted anything to do with him.

Why should he? He actually looked really good in what little ice time he had with the Rangers this year... even managing to score 3 goals in the 15 games hes played. At that pace he would score between 15-20 goals in a full season. Now imagine if he was playing 15 minutes a night instead of 4.

Like him or not Avery is a good player, and under any other coach he would be playing on one of the Rangers top two lines. Torts just doesn't like him.
