David Krejci doesn’t like being blamed for hurting Sidney Crosby

David Krejci isn’t a big fan of being blamed for freak occurrences.

Such is the case for the Bruins star center when it comes to Sidney Crosby‘s latest absence from action. Crosby is out indefinitely as he deals with “concussion-like” symptoms following their game last week.

Crosby singled out catching an accidental elbow from Krejci as the reason why he’s been sidelined and Krejci tells CSNNE.com’s Joe Haggerty that he feels horrible about it.

“It kind of sucks that people want to blame me [for Crosby’s concussion],” Krejci said. “It wasn’t intentional. Anyone that watches the replay knows that it was just bad luck. If you watch the video you know I didn’t do anything wrong.”

The video shows pretty clearly that Krejci didn’t do anything wrong and that it was the sort of thing that could happen to any player at any time in any game. If nothing else it shows how quickly things can go wrong for a player coming back from a concussion.

That kind of logical approach won’t fly for some fans who are eager to call out Krejci for knocking out the league’s best player. No one ever said all fans were levelheaded, but in this case cutting Krejci some slack would make a world of sense.

    Krejci is in denial.

He clearly looked over his right should to line up Crosby, before throwing a “blind” elbow about head high.

oh please. i’m a pens fan and there was nothing wrong with this. i cant stand this crap from steeler/penguins fans. freakin making excuses and blaming others is what losers do. you dont hear crosby or bylsma saying this kind of blaming shit. you make us all look bad, this is why people hate pittsburgh and their fans…get a grip…its sports, this kind of shit happens. at least the athletes are accountable, stop making them look bad with your whiny bs.

Being a B’s/Pats fan, I cannot agree more with this. Although I don’t see it nearly as much from Pens fans. But Steelers fans are truly the absolute worst. Their level and sense of entitlement is nauseating.

Pretty sure pats fans are worse. All I’ve heard the last 5+ years is how the pats are the beat team in the nfl and no one can stop them every season. Then they lose a game and all of a sudden there’s an excuse as to why they lost and most of the time it’s a fake injury they claim brady has.

Only fans worse than the pats are eagles and raiders…

        And im a boston fan.

        Best team*

        Stupid phones…

      • solador78 - Dec 14, 2011 at 4:49 PM

If you’ve never thrown a blind elbow to someone’s head while fighting for position, you’ve never played hockey.

That’s technique 101. Don’t tell me he didn’t know what he was doing or didn’t meant to.

      • solador78 - Dec 14, 2011 at 4:52 PM

Also, if you notice, when Krecji threw the elbow it wasn’t high enough to hit Crosby’s head. He adjusted the elbow as it was being thrown to land higher.

Laughably untrue. If you’ve truly seen the video, then you are flat out lying. There is no debate about it.

    • stakex - Dec 14, 2011 at 12:40 PM

Its people like you that make a lot of people hate Crosby and the Pens. I swear the Pens have the least educated fan base from a hockey standpoint.

      • jpelle82 - Dec 14, 2011 at 1:26 PM

i dont know about that….i’ve been to more games at the verizon center than any other arena (i’ve lived in NOVA for 22 years) and the last 5 years have been steadily depreciating in hockey savvy. people that show up to games dont even know the rules on icing. makes me want to throw my beer. at least the homers in pittsburgh know the rules…i watch the caps games on comcast and the comments from the locals that run along the bottom of the screen are laughable sometimes.

Happens dozens of times during a game, a player tries to shield himself from a possible bodycheck. Wasn’t like Krejci blatantly led with his elbow directly to Crosby’s head. What did you expect Krejci to do, just give up the puck without a battle because its Crosby?

    • drewsylvania - Dec 14, 2011 at 5:40 PM

This might be the most homerific comment of all time.

whatever… you were playing hockey Krejci..i wouldn’t worry about it. ya it sucks that Crosby is hurting again but what are you going to do about it? wrap him in bubble wrap?

    • govtminion - Dec 14, 2011 at 12:25 PM

*somewhere on Long Island, Rick DiPietro hobbles to his phone to order several tons of bubble wrap, while cackling maniacally*

        FUND THIS.

  4. kingjoe1 - Dec 14, 2011 at 12:33 PM

he should not be blamed. He cant make Crosby man up. Crosby is soft and will be an after thought in the NHL longterm. He is career will be defined by his unwillingness to play through pain, but B/C of what he could have done if he werent soft.

    • haterzgonahate - Dec 14, 2011 at 1:35 PM

Crosby is not soft.. you don’t grow up in Canada and make it through Junior and on to the NHL being “soft”. you won’t make it out of peewee hockey in Canada if your soft..

      Europeans on the other hand…

      • danphipps01 - Dec 14, 2011 at 5:06 PM

        Don? Don, is that you?

        You’re still wrong, Don.

    • jpelle82 - Dec 14, 2011 at 1:37 PM

is that how you label lindros too? soft? bet you wouldnt say it to his face

  5. bostonhasrealhockey - Dec 14, 2011 at 2:59 PM

99 percent of NHL players got to the place they are because they are the furthest thing from soft when it comes to there game. A concussion is not a “play through the pain” type of injury.

  6. drewsylvania - Dec 14, 2011 at 5:41 PM

The only people who blame Krejci are reporters and Pens homers. Neither of whom should be listened to.
