I’d like to believe he was pivoting the knee to turn around as opposed to intentionally nailing Foligno.

Like the Porter hit on Booth, it’s not a vicious intent to injure, but it’s a still a very dangerous play. He’s beat on the play and hangs the knee out there in a lazy or desperate move. Either way, I doubt it’s a play that McQuaid could defend as anything other than a really bad split second decision.

BTW, let’s keep in mind why the reaction to these knee-on-knee hits is usually severe: it ends careers.

Remember what happened to Cam Neely? That’s why Shanahan must take a hardline on such plays. It’s not even about intent, but rather the shear danger of catastrophic injuries due to such poor decisions.
