Shanahan explaining it to you dingdong: “On the Booth play, he’s got the puck longer and the Calgary defenceman is right on his back and leaning on him right into the collision. Just before impact, Booth turns his skates and is blowing snow and is trying to stop. At no point is Tootoo trying to stop. He argued that he was trying to jump. Whether it was intentional to hurt Miller or get out of the way — either way, it was the wrong decision. It made the collision worse.”

Booth is out 4-6 weeks with an ACL sprain, and Porter will get 5 games.

Whats jumps out at me is that this isnt one of those times the guy with the puck and the guy trying to hit him both sort of cut at the last second and collided, Porter just plain stuck his leg out to at best trip him. He didnt even seem to be attempting to hit him with his shoulder. Should be 6 games, but hes a first time offender so itll probably be 4.

That’s ridiculous, if Booth deserves a cheap shot for playing hard then about a quarter of the players in the league ought to be injured on dangerous, unnecessary plays.

hope he gets suspended, likely 2-3 games. the last time an avalanche player took a run at a Canuck (and it lead to an injury as well), things kinda got outta hand……
