Apparently not bad enough to call us by our actual school. UND are the Fighting Sioux. NDSU are the Bison. It’s just as disgraceful to us to be called NDSU as it is for our nickname to be taken away.

Maybe the Sioux tribes should call the Seminoles to figure out how to do it correctly. The Sioux are doing a great job of becomming a non factor.

I’m extremly disapointed. It is one of the best names in all of hockey. The local tribe of Chippewa contnues to allow Central Michigan University use the “Chippewa” name with the school. The tribe sees it as a positive marker for them. This is stupid.

I guess I gotta get the merchandise now before it is gone right? It’ll be collecter only after this year…

Bullies only win when the cowards shrug and look the other way. Maybe the majority should stop shrugging and stand up for themselves. PC bulls**t is today’s form of censorship, and it’s a ‘soft’ form of tyranny.

I don’t like being bullied. I don’t like being told I can’t even say the word Christmas anymore. ‘Happy Holidays’ … and exactly what holiday are we talking about? The holiday that dare not speak its name. You know, the one the vast majority of us celebrate, and have since the country was founded, but for some reason, we’re afraid to even mention in public anymore.

If anyone is offended by my religion, my heritage, my culture … well, that’s your problem, not mine. I respect other people, and expect the same in return. I’m tired of a minority of people disrespecting my heritage and bullying us into silence and silly evasions like ‘Happy Holidays’.

As much as I hate North Dakota (Minnesota fan) this is just crap. Some where Ralph is turning in his grave. I guarantee you if he knew this was coming, he would not have put up the money to build the new Ralph. The NCAA needs better things to do with their time, like figuring out a college football playoff system. Maybe finding a new location for the Frozen Four in Tampa Bay. Maybe figure out what happened at Penn State/Syracuse.

The North Dakota state legislature passed a law prohibiting the name change, with a sunset date of 1/2015.

It has been 15 years since the Miami (Ohio) Redskins changed their name to the RedHawks, and it wasn’t a popular decision. I think people have gotten over it, mostly.

What’s in a name? Columbus didn’t get to choose its own NHL team name; “Blue Jackets” was something drawn out of a hat at Bettman Central. People like the cannon though… Columbus Cannons, hmm…

Isn’t this name more of a tribute than a slight? Are the Irish or Catholics upset about Notre Dames name? Should I be upset with the N. E. Patriots? When does PETA jump in to move Sharks, coyotes, lions, tigers, bears, bruins penguins, cardinals, panthers, blue jays, etc.
