Semin “ready to go,” but might not go

Alex Semin is healthy, but he still might not play tonight against Florida.

“He’s ready to go,” Capitals coach Dale Hunter said, as per the Washington Post. “So we’re going to make a game-time decision who’s going to sit out.”

And so goes the Semin soap opera. The struggling sniper has already been made a healthy scratch (on Nov. 21). Saturday he sat out with what was reportedly a shoulder injury.

Curiously, when the Post asked Semin how his shoulder felt this morning, he answered, “good.” But when asked if that meant he was playing, he “solemnly shook his head” while “he fidgeted with his helmet and stared straight ahead.”

Good times in Washington.

trade him. He takes too many penalties anyway

when he was asked the question if he was playing, he shook his head confused because he doesnt know what “playing” means anymore.

Scratch him again tonight, on Wednesday and again on Friday. Can’t trade an injured player, so we got to keep him healthy.

Trading him sounds fun, but what team is going to give up a decent asset to get him? They all have DVRs and the internet, they can see Semin’s effort as well. Why give up anything more than a fifth round pick at the most for a lazy player in the last year of his contract?

Is there a lazier player in the NHL?
