If you say, “I’m not going to compare apples to oranges… but I like apples,” then you aren’t saying anything about oranges. Just by fact of saying the word, you aren’t making a comparison. “I’m not going to compare this to Cooke-Savard, but this was a suspendable hit,” doesn’t make any comparison to Cook-Savard whatsoever. It does the exact opposite. Logic, anyone?

Pacioretty actually deliberately raised his elbow to do damage Letang.. If you look at Cookes hit he never raises his elbow at all…. Pacioretty needs to shut his mouth…The suspension should have been a lot longer than three games. If there is any bias, It was in favor of Pacioretty.. Now Letang is out indefinitely with a concussion..

Cooke wasn’t suspended for his. As ridiculous as that is, you can’t compare the two since the rules were different when Cooke killed Savard and it wasn’t suspendable then. If Pacioretty thinks Shanaban compared them based on the dirtiness, not suspendability, of the hit then I’d have to agree with him that the player being able to see the hit coming makes a HUGE difference.
