Pretty sure that was the proper reaction. Tootoo doesn’t exactly have the best reputation around the league. Miller’s first game back and this happens, you’re correct. Poor Defenseless Tootoo, one of the class acts of the league getting punched a few times after running at Ryan Miller in his first game back. Disgusting.

Anybody who doesn’t see Toto’s shot as a total cheap shot doesn’t know the game. This was a calculated effort to stir up his team and the fans. If he didn’t want to hit Miller why didn’t he lead with his hands out, why were his elbows leading? Any push to him was directed behind the net, not into the goalie.

I don’t think you will see a decline in enforcers in the league if this crap keeps up. I actually think it’s time the Sabre’s bring one back, it looks like Gaustad got hurt during this scrum.

The realignment scheme makes perfect sense, but the conference/division names don’t. Just bring back the Campbell (West) and Prince of Wales (East) conferences, and the Patrick (Bossy), Adams (Orr), Norris (Howe) and Smythe (Gretzky) divisions, and it’s golden.

This situation though is very different- Miller was in his crease, Tootoo didn’t have the puck- and what’s with the flying leap at Miller anyway? Not sure what that was about, but I agree with the announcers in saying that Tootoo should be suspended for that. I’d call it clear intent to slam into a goalie while he’s in his crease, and it appears he intended to injure him (to me). Hopefully Shanahan agrees.

The actions of the Sabres in that video are a disgrace. First of all, it’s their player who shoves Tootoo into Miller, then they all pile on a defenceless guy on his back.
