I hear ya. I guess the only thing good about Phoenix is that the the ticket prices must be pretty cheap. (plus the weather in January).

It’s true, but up here in Winnipeg we’re fine with it. We realize we’re the smallest market in the NHL and won’t be put up on the front page of NHL.com, ESPN, or even prohockeytalk when the team is doing well. But I’d rather live in a hockey town where 90% of the 700,000 population care about our team than live in city like Phoenix where only 2% of 3,300,000 people even know they have a really good hockey club. (I have lived in both cities)

Those ‘thumbs down’ must be from Canadian folks who feel slighted when their teams are referred to as not-so-high profile. But it’s true.

Need proof? A post about one of the best young players in the league draws only one comment. If Kane played for Pitt, or Toronto, his name would be mentioned all the time. Hey, if you want 30 teams, …

If he were playing for the B’s or the Caps or another high-profile team, he’d be the talk of the league. Like Iginla, he’s a bit lost up there in the barrens of Canada, but this guy definitely has star power.
