When I was watching the game I noticed that EVERY Phoenix Coyote was boo-ed. Unlike most NHL cities, Winnipeg actually knows hockey and show up to games. Us Jets fans gave Doan his respect during a break but when the puck is dropped he’s not a Jet. We’ve boo-ed every opposing team that has stepped in the MTS centre.

Hey the fans pay their hard earned $$$ to watch overpaid athletes play kids games. They can boo or cheer whomever they wish! There’s no loyalty left in professional sports on either side of the fence!

Does the name of future Hall of Famer Teemu Selanne ring a bell? Came into the NHL with the original Winnipeg Jets, played four season with them and is STILL playing in the NHL.

We boo everyone to try to give the Jets a mental edge. Doan’s in good company – Pronger & Ovechkin have both got the same treatment. The fans gave him a STANDING OVATION during the break to ahow they respect him & the. Went back to doing what home fans should do .. .. Boo the opposing team … The artciles here are fetting worse & worse. Also, do your homework- Teemu Selanne is still in the league as well as Nikolai, both part of the Jets 1.0

Uhh, anyone on the opposing team might get booed to throw them off when playing in Winnipeg, moreso if it’s one of their top players. Seemed to work tonight. The crowd showed him respect between whistles, but during play the crowd will do everything they can to take them off their game.

I was at the game and the entire Coyotes team was booed every time they touched the puck, it wasn’t anything against Doan. He was given a good standing ovation in the arena, but when play resumed he was just another Coyotes player. And they were all booed.

Us fans in Winnipeg want to make it as tough as possible to play in there and energize our team… There professional athletes and it comes with the territory… We are paying $100 a ticket, so were going to make sure the visiting team doesnt get a free pass!

I think it makes perfect sense. Doan said it best himself, “I simply stated that the connection that I had with Phoenix was because I’d been there for 15 years, the same thing as I would have had if I’d been with Winnipeg for 15 years and someone told me I had to leave.” That cuts both ways. Jets fans didn’t get to enjoy the career of Shane Doan. They got one season before they had to watch another city claim the team for 15 years. Every point Doan scored must have burned the hard-core Jets fan pretty bad.

As a Red Wings fan, I don’t even want to imagine a world where I got to see only ONE season of Nicklas Lidstrom’s career!

It’s not really that unusual. Nor is it particularly sane, but at least it’s PREDICTABLY irrational, right? The weird part is that they actually cheered the tribute. I mean, what the fuck? You ARE aware it’s EXACTLY THE SAME GUY, right, Winnipeg?
