For what it's worth, I was impressed with the Leafs last night- they were in it all the way until Lucic's second goal, with less than five minutes left. They're turning into a pretty scary team- when Reimer gets healthy again, they'll probably be a pretty good match for Boston again. And I'm glad to see that- I've missed the old Toronto/Boston rivalry being a real rivalry, nice to have the Leafs catching up and making it into a tough matchup again.

Is anyone actually surprised? Yeah, Kessel and Lupul are lighting up every goaltender whose name isn't "Thomas" and Phaneuf doesn't look like a TOTAL liability this season - but initial hot streak or not, did anyone really believe a team severely lacking defensive depth and running a combination of Gustavsson and a rookie in net would challenge the Stanley Cup champions? This isn't even a matter of team fanbases - any realistic hockey fan, whether they love or hate either team, has to know Toronto's got few things to threaten Boston with. They're small, they're fairly fast and skilled, but Boston's a defensive powerhouse and they've got a top six that's been blowing the doors off of every arena for a month. Could they be closer? Oh yeah, definitely. Toronto seems to actually play worse against Boston for some reason. But it's never going to be an honest battle between the teams as they are now. Too much of a talent difference, and too many holes in Toronto's roster. For now, at least, it's not much of a surprise to see them lose by fairly pronounced margins.
