If that’s what motivated what may wind up being a stupid deal, then maybe he’s not as smart as he thinks he is. Kessel for a draft package that turned out to be Seguin and Hamilton may have been a big overpayment considering Burke could have given up a lot less with an offer sheet that the Bruins probably would not have matched. But give him credit for selling Kaberle to Boston at the right time for a very good return.
