Rask is their future starter when Thomas retires. It’s not that far off. Hamilton’s the future of their blueline once Big Z starts to slow down. That would screw the Bruins horrifically in the long term. Besides, Rask would leave as soon as his contract expires. He doesn’t want to be a career backup to Hiller, man.

Not that that isn’t a great idea – Weber is basically Pronger 2.0 – but what do you think Philly could possibly offer to get Weber before he signs long-term with a Preds team whose GM has said in no uncertain terms he wants both of his top D-men for the long haul?

As much as I’d love to see Hartnell falling down in another city, I don’t see the Flyers being able to move him. Also, before bringing in a guy like Bobby Ryan, I’d rather see them get another big d’man for the back end since Prongers out again. Shea Weber would look really good in the Orange and Black, and could be a long term solution, provided that the team resigns him at the end of the year.

I don’t like playing the online GM because it is worthless but I would like to at least hear that the Wild were interested in this situation.. I think with the several options we have with our current young defense and prospects coming up in the future, along with draft picks, they could make a competitive offer… but if the Ducks are looking for a notable big D name, the Wild would have to back out seeing as the price would be over their heads… That said, I would offer Scandella and our 1st round pick (something like that)

Ducks would certainly want Schenn as part of the deal and Burkie has been adamant about not trading him. Florida has a wealth of blueline talent and Ryan is certainly Tallon’s kind of player. That might work.

There was a good point on Boston.com that other teams are focusing so much on shutting down Krejci/Lucic/Horton that Kelly’s line is getting to play against scrubs and benefiting with more goals. I buy that to some extent. But I have just seen Horton make bad play after bad play in the slot and Krejci just disappear. I agree that it’s not time to panic, especially with the team getting 23 of 24 points. Let someone else overpay for Ryan.

Agreed, but with a caveat- I do agree that Bergeron/Marchand/Seguin has been the B’s top line rather than Krecji/Horton/Lucic, but I’m not sure if it’s that the latter has played poorly so much as the former has played out-of-their-minds hockey lately. Both Krecji and Horton haven’t looked like their usual selves though, which is concerning- but, it’s also still November- if they’re still out of sorts in March, it’s time to worry.

The Bruins aren’t going to trade their future for Ryan, especially when they have salary cap issues ahead next year. If they did that deal, you may as well include Krejci too because you wouldn’t be able to afford him either. Krejci needs to come out of his slump. Maybe this contract year has put too much pressure on him and he’s not really a number one center. As a result, his line really isn’t even the number one line right now (#1 is now Bergeron-Marchand-Seguin).

Ryan has like 4 years left on his deal, and Semin is an UFA after this year. Pretty sure that wouldn’t be considered because of that, let alone Semin’s reputation.
