What very strange thing do we see if we look at the standings?? We see that, while, yes, there is a long, long way to go in this season, BUT... if the playoffs started tomorrow... drum roll... louder please... the ONLY CANADIAN TEAM IN THE PLAYOFFS WOULD BE THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS!!!!! And that would officially be one of the funniest things ever! And Phil Kessel would be the first Leaf ever to win the Art Ross Trophy as top NHL scorer. The last time a Leaf led the NHL in points was 1938, before they created that award and Gordie Drillon had 52 points in 48 games.

The Islanders were CONSIDERABLY better last night and should have won in large part due to a fine performance by Kyle Okposo who seems to have awoken from hibernation. They were betrayed by a terrible performance from Rick DiPietro who can no longer be considered an NHL goalie. Cappy was killed by many for sitting him in favor of prospect Anders Nilsson but the fact is that RDP has been the fourth best of the four goalies the NYI have iced this season. NYI need to Redden RDP.
