Re: Thanksgiving---Yes, a lot of Garth haters out there and the comment was directed more at them I suppose. BTW, Blake is Canadian and his Thanksgiving happened around Columbus Day.

Re: Nabby--Why would that affect his rep among players? Why any more than the other GMs who made the identical claim on other players?

Re: Load of crap. Garth has had a hard time luring players because (1) local politicians over whom he has no control have done their best to make it impossible to build a new arena or properly renovate the existing structure and (2) his predecessor just about destroyed the organization and he has had to basically rebuild it from the ground up. Because of that, he has had to settle for players like Streit, Matt Moulson, PA Parenteau, Michael Grabner, and Al Montoya who other teams either didn't want and / or undervalued. And if you check their stats, they have ALL done quite well for him.

Just about all that was left that was any value when Garth took over: Frans Nielsen, Kyle Okposo, Andrew MacDonald, RDP (he was still an NHL goalie then), and the now departed Blake Comeau. Nielsen, Okposo, and MacDonald were still prospects and Milbury was unable to hatch a plot to trade them away before he left. RDP's contract was Wang's inept way of saying Milbury's reign of error was over for good.

I have nothing against Blake and I know this is tough on him but really is Garth supposed to send Haley or Ullstrom back who are playing better hockey? Is he supposed to let the now poor AHL quality RDP blow another game like he did last night because Garth couldn't reactivate Montoya for lack of roster space? This Garth hate is beyond all logic.

Re: Nabokov -- Even if Snow did the right thing for the organization, it didn't help his reputation among players any.

Part of this is sending a message to the rest of the team. Mostly though, Blake is just inconsistent. He's not really good enough to be a top 6 and his play isnt conducive to being a 3rd line bumper and grinder. Should Garth have picked another day to do this? Actually, no. He needed to clear roster space for Montoya. The people who are making a big deal about just do not like Garth.

Enough with the Nabby crap already. Garth did exactly the right thing. Two other teams claimed players in exactly the same scenario at the same time and no one said squat about it. CLB claimed Dubielewicz when the Islanders tried to do with him what DET did with Nabby. No one said squat about that either. Nabby was the one who was out of line. Dubie and all the others reported to the teams that claimed them. Nabby didn't. He was to blame, not Garth. Your comment, like many others on this subject by Garth haters, is a load of crap.
