There is no question this was an intentional head shot with the elbow, and I really don’t think Fleischmann embelished it (let me elbow you to the head at that speed and we’ll see if your head snaps backwards). After all, he missed the entire power player while being checked out after the hit. If he was just looking for a call, he would have certainly been back on the ice right away.

Like it or not, this was a legit brain lapse by Deveaux. I really don’t get what the Rangers see in him anyway, and wish they would just send him back down to the minors.

There may have been intent to elbow and a glancing blow to the head, but the bulk of the blow was to the shoulder. Watch the replay from behind Flash. If his head doesn’t embelish backward and he doesn’t stay down, this isn’t called. Nothing compared to any Stevens hit to anybody’s head (Kariya).
Versus does another great job of jumping on one side. ‘No question.’ Yeah, there is a question. Watch the play from behind Flash.
Similarly, when Philly threw a tantrum over Tampa’s defense, VS jumped all over Tampa Bay. Plenty of teams play a neutral zone lock. But the Flyers threw a tantrum and VS has ‘no question’ who is at fault. Like a defense in football playing a prevent D and the offense refusing to do anything because they don’t like what the other team is doing.

Still though, it was a very not cool hit… and Deveaux should def see 2-3 game suspension for this.
