So the fact that it was a MANDATORY meeting makes no difference to anyone?

MANDATORY means nothing?

Tell that to YOUR boss the next time, and see how he treats you. You might be lucky to have a job to go back to. I’m sure Ward got off better than you would if you missed a MANDATORY meeting, no matter what excuse you tried to pull with the public/your boss.

The bottom line, as it has been for a while now, is that if Washington keeps playing un-inspired hockey Boudreau has to go. He can’t motivate his stars, the Caps defense looks awful (I know, Greens out… but that hurts the Caps more offensivly then defensivly), and the team is simply playing bad. Sure he might be holding people accountable, but its not really working now is it?

If McPhee is too close with Boudreau and won’t pull the trigger on a change, then perhaps the owners need to pull the trigger on him as well.

Jackson is a first class idiot, with behavioral problems through his entire life. Ward hasn’t had these issues before. There is your difference.

Go get ‘em Bruce. It ain’t supposed to be a country club. Clearly, the team has a problem that he’s trying to fix. More power to him. His approach may or may not work, but he knows, the team he’s currently coaching will not win the Cup.

I don’t recall anyone calling what Reid did “inspired coaching”. Not to mention, he missed a special teams meeting the same week he cost the team the game on a special teams goof.

As far as how it was portrayed, 90% of the stuff I’ve seen called it a bad move, especially since Maclin got hurt, and they had no weapons from the outside and lost to one of the worst teams in the league, but hey, whatever floats your boat

If the Caps brass had any stones they’d turf Boudreau to the nut house and bring someone in that has a reputation for being a little more “Russian friendly” and he might just get a little more out of two of the best pure scorers in the game instead of continuing to bench everyone.

It’s harsh, no doubt- particularly with the flu part in mind (I know I’m incapable of waking up after some NyQuil, anyway. Big N, little Y, big f***ing Q!)… but I’m interested in a comparison. Boudreau benches Joel Ward for a day for missing a practice, and the hockey world seems to be horrified. Andy Reid does the same to DeSean Jackson before an Eagles game, and most people think it was inspired coaching.

Not sure what to take away from that, but it’s interesting that two similar cases, handled much the same way, are getting so different reactions.

Damn, now I want some NyQuil… I’m high as a kite and my teeth are green, merry f***ing Christmas! (Thank you Denis Leary!)
