Video: Fans behaving badly in Montreal

Nov 22, 2011, 10:07 AM EDT

Seeing fans in Montreal being raucous is nothing new. When the Bruins came rolling into Quebec last night, many had thoughts that the fisticuffs would be on the ice. Not so fast my friends, the fans can get their angry on just as well as the guys on the ice. With a game that was extremely tame on the ice, the fans decided to spice things up on their own.

Old hate dies hard between these two sides but while we’re horrified by the fight, let’s also marvel at how efficient security was in busting this up.

(thanks to Dave Stubbs of Habs Inside/Out for the video tip)

    Bunch of losers!

Hate to see fights like this but given the rivalry between the two sides, it’ll happen. Looked pretty brutal though.

    that’s awful.
i thought canadians were all passive and aloof?

      Not about hockey :)

Don’t think this was a Habs fan vs Bruins fan thing though. Just looks like a bunch of boozed up Habs fans fighting eachother. This is a bad post for prohockeytalk.com. I dont see Florio and the football guys posting videos of the 100 fights that happen every week at NFL games.

I will take this type of stuff over some of the BS Florio (and to a lesser extent, Rosenthal, who has no grasp whatsoever on the English language). It’s good to bring this type of stuff to light so it can be addressed and dealt with…as efficiently as those Quebecois security guards did. Je Me Souviens!

Am interested in knowing if this was between a Bruins fan and a Habs fan though? Maybe make it less likely of retaliation in Boston if we can say it’s just 2 drunk idiots fighting and not about hockey allegiances…

Agree with that Florio comment. And dealing with theses things instantly, but you will never have fan violence leave sporting events. The 2 go hand in hand, and I have seen almost a fan fight at every game I have been to whether its football or hockey. Including same teams fans fighting eachother. Alcohol will continue to guarantee that. So unless they get rid of alcohol at theses events I dont see how bringing these videos to light will get anything addressed or dealt with.

That kind of reminds me of a few Winnipeg Blue Bomber games I have been too… It doesn’t matter what team your cheering for, this is the stuff that happens when there is too much alcohol involved… I mean I know that is an assumption but chances are if people are sober this type of stuff probably wouldn’t happen… I like having a few drinks at the game but people get way to out of control with there alcohol, it sometimes makes me think they shouldn’t sell alcohol at all but then again then ticket prices would be insane because of the lack of beer sales…

All these guys who do this roll with there “crew” to the game and they are always soo tough with 5 friends around them, but would run away like a B I T C H if they had throw down on their own…

Really couldn’t tell which fans were fighting who. I’ll go ahead and call the guy in the grey sweatshirt a douche though, if you’re gonna fight someone don’t stand up a couple steps above and kick them from behind. Man up.

Nothing like grown men fighting to the tune of Hava Nagila

Back in my day…a long time ago the fans in Montreal would dress up for the game and display true sportsmanship. That day is gone. Keep booing Chara just to show every Canadian that Vancouver has nothing on you idiots.

    • imleftcoast - Nov 22, 2011 at 6:02 PM

This is disappointing, but it’s nothing compared to Vancouver. I grew up in Vancouver, and the riots will be an embarassment until something good comes out of Vancouver to make people forget them. Cliverush, I think fans have a right to boo whoever they want, and I’d love to hear your view of the non-suspension for the Pacioretty hit when Aaron Rome gets 4 games in the Stanley Cup Finals for a hit that is every bit as marginal.
