Its not so much Crosby as the adulation and constant media frenzy. As if he’s the only story worth covering. I saw it with Gretzky also and it pissed me off. Especially since it was well known that no one would dare check him for fear of league retaliation or player on the Oilers gunning for the opposing teams top star.

If I were Cam Neely I would have beaten Gretzky’s ass in game 1 of the 1988 Finals just to let him know that he was playing hockey and not figure skating with a stick and puck. And then I would have pounded McSorley and Semenko.

I don’t think either of those thugs would’ve dared to screw with Lucic or Chara.

8man, you sure seem to be obsessed with Crosby, and have been very vocal about bashing him. I’d suggest that perhaps you were bitter because he stole your prom-date, but I’m pretty sure he prefers women.

I understand that it’s a huge story, Jason, but it gets sort of like Brett Favre/Tiger Woods/Lebron James stories- when it gets covered too much, it’s too easy to tune the whole thing out after a while. Again, I don’t mean it being rude, so I apologize if I come across that way, but as much as I’m glad to see Sid back… we’ve had months of ‘when will he return’ stories and a ton of ‘he has returned!’ stuff.

As a Pens fan, I agree with you, to a point. But I also think the attention he gets is a good thing for the team. When he’s getting the attention, the pressure is off the others, and they can just go out and play (and play well). Besides, he does a tremendous job of handling the media and the media circus – I know I wan’t that mature and poised at 24.

@govtminion – what did you expect really? The media talks about nothing else anyway, even when Sid wasn’t playing. Now that he’s close & in fact going to be playing again, I suggest you just turn your sound off to watch the games. And I’ve been a Pens fan since 1992, but do get a little tired of the team being treated as if it’s made up of only one player. Shoot me, but that’s how I feel. With all the other talent that’s on the team, even I get sick of the Crosby gush!
