They won four consecutive Stanley Cups in the eighties. So the Isles faithful didn't think there would be a price for that?

The devil says you go a full generation of having nothing. We Bruins and Red Sox fans know what that all about.

Actually the title should the Islanders aren't who they ought to be. It is easy to see from the stat sheet that a lot of players aren't performing to their potential. Its also easy to see that the team has lost a lot of the fire it had during the last half of last season. JT is fine. Its just that very few others are scoring and opposing Ds can focus entirely on him.

I don't think you can pin this on the new players. Pandolpho has done his job and Reasoner hasn't been bad. Rolston is at least no worse than Hunter who he replaced this season. NYI could use somebody younger and more skilled at #2 D than Staios. I hope Garth can trade Nabby for Franson when Nabby is back.

Letting Konopka go may not have been the best idea. He helped put some fire into the team last year. Dougie does his best, but its harder to do from behind the bench and Mark Streit is not a fire-breather. It may be that making Ox sit will put some more fire in him and he can help motivate the team.

The Isles are on the brink of another failed season. If the team does not get turned around the balance of November when it is catching up with Eastern Conference teams in GP, it will be well nigh impossible to do it later. Regardless of how that works out, I hope that the team can get back the mojo it had the second half of last season.
