As with most Boston sports stories these days, it seems like it is the media that is the issue, not the athlete.

I’d take Marchand on my team any day of the week, and call him nothing but “Sir.”

It’s a stupid nickname. If he’s cool with you calling him f#$%face, why be a dick about it?

Typical f’ing Boston: totally uncreative and disrespectful – complete inferiority complex to NYC. And the driving in Boston is ridiculous.

Well, I’ve defended Marchand all day long on this board. He certainly has his haters. I particularly dislike the juvenile types who poke fun at his looks. My bet is they’d give their right arm to be Brad Marchand. And I’ve even pointed out that he is the spitting image of the Marquis de Lafayette. I almost did a double-take recently while visiting the National Portrait Gallery in DC.

Having said that, really, there’s nothing to get all uptight about. It was quite funny, and is now getting a bit worn out, but still … it’s all in good fun. Actually, Felger means it as a compliment – you were this guy who was so inconsequential that people didn’t even know your name, and now you’re … Mr. Big Time. It’s an acknowledgement of your unexpected success. All the way from nowhere to somewhere. I’d take that with a smile any day of the week.

But if it ticks him off, out of respect I’d just let it drop. Whatever.

From the first time I saw him I said Marchand looks like a little rat.

With regard to him taking offense to the Marshmont nickname… who cares? A little immature to take that personally.
