Give him time, guys. Chara was pretty porous in his younger years too. It takes a while for the giants to figure out how to defend at NHL speed. He’ll make it work with time.

While his +/- was terrible, I started to love his play for the better part of last year. He was starting to develop some real grit in his play by racking up tons of cross-checking and roughing penalties. He let opposing players know they had to face a physical force, and that seems to be missing thus far this season.

Comparing him to Chara, a certain future hall of famer, is a stretch (pardon the pun) at this point.

I think losing Tallinder really has a lot to do with the entire process up until now. Hank definitely helped the man-child grow in his Calder Trophy year. Since, Myers play has taken scrutiny and the front office’s offseason mistakes, in taking a rising young stars linemate away from him instead of keeping the pair together has been all but forgotten. Lindy and Darcy can get a good look at the start of their defensive woes tonight when Tallinder returns to town.
