The fact that getting humbled by the Ducks in the final is your NHL franchise’s greatest accomplishment makes it futile. If we count pre-NHL championships the Leafs still have as many or more than you (St. Pats and Arenas have 1 each, Maple Leafs have 11), learn to check your facts first bud. Saying Burke has messed up the Leafs just makes me laugh because it really makes no sense at all. When he came in we had next to nothing and all he’s done is improve the roster each year. If you think Craig Anderson is your better goalie to look forward to you should put down the bong. I don’t know how you quantify veteran leadership so I won’t bother with that one. Brian Murray is a bigger joke as your GM than he was as your coach. How many Cup winners has he built? Who has he brought to Ottawa that could even remotely be considered a difference maker? Your willingness to prove your own stupidity on a public forum is unmatched by anyone I’ve seen on this blog. Keep up the good work

How is making the finals in the last 4 years futile? And if you want to go way back, the Sens have way more championships than the Leafs. And what have the Leafs won btw, except top five draft picks that they like to give away? Bottom line is that Burke messed up the Leafs for a good while. What do the Sens have to look forward to? Better goalie. Better D with two future stars. Better veteran leadership. Better GM. Far better coach. And four more games against the Leafs…

Once again, the Sens have never won anything and the Leafs are ahead of you guys in the standings this year. Not sure what you’ve seen to indicate the Sens have way more potential. I guess you say whatever you have to to convince yourself you’re not one of the most futile franchises in NHL history

I disagree. Bear in mind, they were doing very well backstopped by Reimer. If he comes back and they continue to perform poorly, I figure we can say that then. Admittedly, it’ll be more likely than not. It’s not just the goalies performing poorly, it’s sloppy, inattentive defensive play, too – but I’ll reserve judgment until their starter’s back at least.

Year four of the grand Burke rebuild and the Leafs are just as sad as they were In 2008. Well, they’re even worse considering the contracts they have on the books. Sens aren’t even 20 games into their rebuilding year and they already show much more potential.
