Columbus is in a bad way this year, which is pretty obvious. The loss of Carter early on didn't seem to help things, but there is certainly something missing in the locker room with the team. What a lot of people tend to forget is the psychological aspect behind the game. When the Jackets sit in the locker room they have a lot to think about. The fact they're playing in Ohio where nobody wants to watch hockey. The fact their team has one of the most embarrassing records in NHL history going into mid-November. The fact their coaching staff, team, and goaltending can't figure out a way to make it work. Then, there is the fact that the team simply may not like playing with each other - which we wouldn't know unless statements start making the news.

Carter doesn't exactly have the best reputation of holding his team together, as seen in the Flyers camp the past couple years, so I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if his play seems unmotivated upon his return. Can you blame him? He left a playoff team to be traded to a club that has little hope of turning around anytime soon, as indicated by its past trades and poor player choices. I would love to see these guys bounce back like the Devils did, but I think they're in store for a major shake-up before December. Or at least if the team actually cares about winning it will make some daring moves to get it's players back on track.

Welcome back, Carter. I hope you and Nash can implement your rolls as leaders of the team and bring the Jackets back into a respectable standing. It would start with a nice win against Winnipeg, a team that should be a good match.
