What an unbelievable thing to happen. I couldn’t believe it when my buddy told me what had happened. I thought it would just be for a few seconds but it was legitimately a stand. Incredibly gutsy on the part of Laviolette, except I’m not sure on the rules with the refs blowing the play dead with the Flyers seemingly doing nothing wrong. I would have never thought in a 1000 years someone would do this, especially at an opposing teams rink. Crazy stuff from Laviolette.

If I was in the stands for this game I would be pretty irate.

That being said, I agree with sippindasyzurp in that this is a big pissing contest between the coaches (both of whom are very good in my opinion).

There are other ways to beat TB, Boston managed to do it in May in a 7 game series, it can be done.

Ok,first huge bolts fan. The whole point of playing hockey(or most other sports)is to score and win.you cant score from your defensive zone. I bet if philly PLAYED all sixty min they might have won. Philly fans should be pi$$ed at their teams lack of effort. How would you feel if your running back kneeled every time he got the ball,or your qb spiked it right after he said hike. Take note from the caps playoffs last year, standind around doesnt score goals. Trying to change the rule on this is taking out defence in hockey. Maybe next time philly will TRY and score goals next game.

New Jersey's been putting us to sleep for years, Jacques Lemaire has been a boring winner and Detroit invented the "left wing lock." The Bolts have scored the fourth-most goals in the conference, so they won't play like this forever. Guy Boucher gets paid to get two points every night. Any win is a great win.

Flyers employed this tactic (but not as excessive) in a couple of games last season against the Bolts. They also were successful a few times in springing either Briere &/or Giroux on quick passes through the neutral zone. Just so happened that last night was a national game and both coaches were playing 'let's see who blinks first.'

There is absolutely ways to score against this defense... After all Tampa is near the bottom in goals against so this system is not that fantastic... Speed kills any kind of trap because the players are usually flat footed and will probably take a penalty if the attacker has not blown by the defender already... That act last night was just a C o c k measuring contest between Laviolette and Boucher... I highly doubt were going to see this happen again this year..
