I probably wouldn’t spend my first cheque until well after my second one had come in. Being a rookie, I would probably be more focused on staying in the lineup.

That being said, I would probably do the same. Get a nice car and buy something for my parents.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many pro athletes do this. When I manged a footlocker here in MN when I was in High School – College, that’s all the Vikings players would do. Everyday after practice on Wed. they would come in around 2 or so and buy up all of our socks. I didn’t understand it at the time but now, I am soooo jealous. New socks FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was 18, I bought myself a nice little (used) red sports car that I saved for working all through high school. That’s what most young guys want. Only difference is that the NHL teen rookies always seem to buy some type of BMW that goes for 100k plus.

My little car wasn’t quite so expensive, but I wouldn’t have traded it for anything. I loved that car!

Your FIRST NHL paycheck? Mr. Underwood purchased Carrie long after his rookie year. She don’t come cheap. You might have to settle for Kelly Pickler.

I have actually thought of this before… what I would do with the money.

I’m definately not a diva or a “look at me” type person… if I’m comfortable, it’s gravy.

After signing, I’d make sure I really liked my wheels. I want a tennis court and I want to live on a body of water with a sweet deck in the backyard.

I love to travel and would make the most of my offseasons but going everywhere I could.
