The Tampa Bay Lightning aren’t moving anytime soon, but their home arena is about to get a new name.

St. Pete Times Forum is going to become the Tampa Bay Times Forum on January 1, 2012 thanks to the hometown newspaper who bought the rights to name the arena changing its name. Making sure the name sticks around a little longer, the two sides also agreed to extend the naming rights agreement through til 2018.

By that point, Vincent Lecavalier will still have two more years left on his current contract. Maybe by then the Lightning will have retained Steve Stamkos as well.

Doesn’t exactly roll of the tongue. Ah well, it’s all about the money anyway.

Better than the Vagisil Centre in Regina. A notch above the Depends Civic Center in Palm Beach. But nothing beats the Viagra ED Garden in Wichita.

Everyone pretty much already calls it the Times Forum or just the Forum anyway, so I don’t think this will change much.

I still call it the Ice Palace and always will. TBT is a local FREE newspaper. The more money this team makes, the happier I am so they could call it the Dildo Center for all I care. hahaha
