Well it probably falls on Alfie on what happens to him. He is their captain and idk if he wants to give that up. I'm sure he is very comfortable in Ottawa and I'd be surprised that management overrides his desires. So to answer the question, the Sens should trade the Swedish Captain only if he wants to leave.

Eh. They're pretty solid on the right wing front, I think. It's possible, though. More likely in my mind would be the Sabres, if they clear some space, or the Blues (although they also have an abundance of guys who can play on right wing). The Bruins would be an interesting case, but I don't think he really fits their style and I don't think they'd go to the trouble for what is potentially only one year's play for two years' salary unless they ended up dumping Lucic or something and wanting to quickly shore up their numbers.

... actually, that's not a bad idea. Lucic IS heavily underperforming and doesn't even hit much anymore. If he doesn't turn it around he's on the chopping block eventually anyway, and they'd need SOMEONE to score 20-30 goals... hmmm.

Alfie isn't going anywhere. He's still the face of the franchise, stays in Ottawa in the off-season and will likely slide right into the front office after next year. Lots of Swedes on the Sens; his presence is worth the cap hit. He's a real franchise player, not like Sundin...

interesting idea, I bet a trade waits a year though, the sense would love that 1 million dollar salary next year more than anyone. Maybe a young team that really does not need the cap space if Alfreddson makes it clear he doesn't want to play next year for only 1 mil. Can anyone else see Tampa as a possible fit?
