Schenn vs. Schenn in the City of Brotherly Love

Toronto Maple Leafs v Philadelphia Flyers

In what’s becoming something of a theme this year, another pair of brothers are set to face off in an NHL contest.

Luke and Brayden Schenn -- of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers, respectively -- will square off as regular-season opponents for the first time at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Tonight will actually be their second meeting of the year. Back on September 20, the Schenns were one of three sets of brothers that played against each other on the same night, along with Blake and Phil Kessel and Zach and Aaron Bogosian.

But those games were preseason affairs. Tonight, Luke and Brayden will follow in the footsteps of Chris and Anthony Stewart, who met for the first time in the regular season last Friday with Chris’ Blues beating Anthony’s Hurricanes 3-2 in overtime. (It should be noted that the Stewarts had relatively quiet outings: Anthony played just 6:27 while Chris went pointless and finished minus-1.)

As for the Schenns -- the last time they met during the regular-season was in junior hockey. Luke was with the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets, Brayden the Brandon Wheat Kings and on February 14, 2008, Kelowna whipped Brandon 8-2. Luke registered two assists that night while Brayden went minus-2 -- let’s just assume the younger Schenn would like to make amends for that performance.

So, to the video we go. Here’s Brayden talking about the matchup:

And here’s older brother Luke discussing what it means to the family:
