Just an FYI about Jack Todd. He doesn’t actually believe anything he writes – The Gazette has him on staff merely to write controversial stuff to sell papers. True, he is discussed at water coolers, but realize that the writer is nothing more than a gimmick. His hockey knowledge is marginal at best.

Wouldn’t be relying on Subban for nearly as much as they are, to be sure. Between Streit and Hamrlik they’d have offensive D-men (well, in Streit’s case, at least) that AREN’T in the penalty box three or more times a game and giving up appalling turnovers on the ice. Streit is not the kind of player you give up when he’s only running $4,100,000.

Current management may have made bad choices, but so did Gainey. Just one example was letting Mark Streit go to free agency in 2008. Where would the Habs be now if they had retained him?

its really Pierre Gauthier’s fault. He let quite a few valuable players walk this offseason and did not replace them well enough to potentially build off a season where they were an OT goal against the Bruins away from moving on. This is not Jacques Martin’s problem, the Habs just simply do not have the manpower right now to be able to compete. Now granted PG could not resign Wisniewski due to the pricetag but to let the likes of Halpern, Hamrlik, Pyatt to name a few go for relatively cheap was just dumb.
