The Rangers have been doing the same thing over and over again. They got results once in 1994 and have tried it over and over again without results.

In 1994, Messier and his fellow Oiler alums produced a Cup--at the price of the Rangers' future. Since then, starting w/ The Great One, the Rangers have brought in one "great" star after another who was supposed to be the messiah and bring back the Cup. This scheme has failed repeatedly. I doubt Richards will be any different from the others.

At best, even if he performs brilliantly, Richards will only bump the Rangers up from a bubble team to a mid to lower seed playoff team. At worst, the Rangers might well miss the playoffs entirely.

C'mon guys... Another Rangers story?!?!
There are plenty of other teams in the NHL to write about, it would be nice to read a story about teams like Calgary or Vancouver who lost significant blue-liners in the off season or talk about the retooled Avs who are looking to turn their franchise around on the back of some young talent. Step your game up...
