I think having a full season without the shadow of Darryl Sutter being cast over the Flames will be a very good thing for the team. Last season after he "quit" they were the second best team in the NHL for the remainder of the season, unfortunately for us Flames fans they had just dug way to deep of a hole by going pretty much 0 for November and the first 2/3 of December, they were jockying with the Oilers for last in the conference when Darryl was dumped.

From local media reports Darryl used to micro manage everything with the team right down to what the players could and couldn't listen to in the dressing room. It got so bad that Darryl and his brother Brent weren't even talking to each other. The one quote I remember most was from a player saying that the most refreshing thing about D.Sutter being gone was that losing a game in January wasn't treated as the end of the world, and the players could just forget it and move on to the next game, hopefully the looser attitude continues and the Flames can get back into the playoff mix, and even move past the first round for only the second time since their Stanley Cup win.
