For you to compare this incident to a cartoon is incredibly ignorant. To educate you, blacks have often been compared to monkeys by racists. Thus, the banana directed at a black man carries HUGE racist overtones. It would be like me throwing something with a swastika drawn on it to a Jew.

While I agree there is no need to go overboard in crucifying this guy, some public shame might do wonders. I often get the sense that morons like this believe the silent majority agree with them, but are afraid to say it. Maybe with everyone in the world crying for his head, he might realize that he is the outsider here.

Welcome to life on planet Earth where some people are racist, some people are stupid and some people are both. Let’s just face the facts and move on. He’s dumb, most likely a racist and his actions do not reflect the thoughts, feelings or beliefs of anyone but him. Is hanging this loser out to dry going to benefit anyone (players, fans, etc)? Those of us with even half a brain already know how stupid and disgusting racism is, what point is everyone trying to make?

If it was squid or octopus it would have been shoveled off the ice and stuffed into a trash can. However it wasn’t, it was a racially motivated gesture. I have an idea, lets put this guys mom in an arena and whip eggs at her and hold signs if you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen or put him in an arena and throw feces at him and make him pick it up, P.O.S.
I’m white, I can’t jump and Billy Hoyle would never have done Sidney Deane like that, even after he hustled him out of Rosie Perez’s loot. It’s 2011 people…
I’ll stop with the early 90′s basketball movie references when sports fans get the message… watch White Men Can’t Jump and you might learn how to treat each other with some respect.

I dont really see the big issue here. Moorhouse was caught up in the game and threw a banana on the ice during the shootout in hopes Wayne Simmonds would slip, right? I see it all the time on the Tom & Jerry cartoons, and it works perfectly. So are you telling me that Tom & Jerry are racist also?
