Where in my comment did I say that the ice surface for the Winter Classic was acceptable?

I didn't, because it wasn't, and they shouldn't have played on it. But there was too much cash on the line for the NHL to make the right decision to protect its players and cancel the event.

They played the Winter Classic last year in the rain, with worse ice conditions considering it was outdoors, or did you forget about that?

This could be a disastrous situation for the NHL, and it just isn't a risk worth taking. We have seen players destroy knees and ankles on uneven ice surfaces in the past -- why would the NHL let its premier talent play on a surface that is clearly substandard and risk player injury for a PRESEASON game?

It's up to these players to come together before this game and refuse to play citing the dangerous conditions and have the NHLPA take up a grievance with the league for trying to make them play on that ice.

Also, Boudreau is an idiot. "But what can you do? Both teams are there; it’s an ice surface, [t]hey’ve played on, in their lives, some ice surfaces that weren’t really up to snuff."

On what planet does this man live? They were kids playing on outdoor rinks for fun when they played on these kinds of ice surfaces, not grown men skating an incredibly fast speeds, stopping and turning on a pinhead, for massive paychecks.

God forbid someone get injured tonight lest the NHL have a huge mess on their hands.
