Best NHL game in years, the hitting is way more realistic then ever before, and the computers actually give you a challenge instead of being a body out on the ice, change the announcers and it'll be even better, just don't downgrade next years edition

To me EA does it right, it doesn't have to reinvent the wheel just add to it, and for me its the subtle things that make it worth it. For instance the inbetween period screen with the rink and where your goals/shots/hits come from is a nice touch, even the 3 stars of the game screen has added info and its a clean look.

As far as the gameplay the physics engine seems to be realistic, I took Bouchard from the Wild and tried to check a guy on the boards and the guy skated by like he should as Bouchard is small. Also it seems more realistic when clearing the puck while on the PK, in past versions it was really hard where the O team would knock it down but now its more realistic.

I appreciate the subtle changes and I do think its the one sports game where its worth upgrading every year, I can't say the same about Madden.

I've had it for a couple days, just starting to delve into it. It is great stuff and the addition of the Winter Classic and the hockey legends is worth the money.

Another hit by EA sports...now, if they could only update the game to include new announcers. Loved Gary Thorne and Bill Clement but I'm kinda tired of hearing their voices saying the same thing for 3 years now.

The only improvement I don't like is when you sim a game, you pretty much still have to watch the close roll and the stats come in. You can speed it up, but I liked the way it was done in NHL11: it would update the scoring after each period and then w/5 minutes left in the game incase you wanted to intervene.
