What people seem to be forgetting is there is a difference between cheap shots that target the head and clean hits that result in a head injury (no, Chara’s was not a clean hit, it was interference and was penalized as such)

Hockey Canada and the junior majors cannot compete with the NHL as far as marketing is concern. If Ovechkin got 10 games for his late hit, if Chara got 10 games for his hit on Paccioretti, this would have sent a strong message to all the young hockey players out there, and, would give some teeth to Hockey Canada initiatives to curb head shots.
