I also forgot to ask why you think Campbell is to blame for not suspending Chara when we all know he doesn’t deal with incidents involving the Bruins, or at least he didn’t at that time. Based on the fact you think Chara even deserved a suspension I’ll chalk that oversight up to continued ignorance on your part

I try not to take any stock in thumbs up/down but if you’re disagreeing with me here, indicating you think Chara deserved punishment, you should at least make a case for why you think so

Transparency is the key – if the process can be measured and reasoned, even bad situations can be understood, or even corrected. Right now, it’s a crap shoot.

The only part that will always be subjective is the attempt to measure ‘intent to injure’ in a Chara-like situation. Nobody but Chara knows what was truly going down.

Avery should get a mandatory annual 6 game suspension for the jerk he’s bound to be. Bank on it.

5 and a game for interference was punishment enough for Chara. Anybody who disagrees probably doesn’t watch much hockey. If that hit happens anywhere but 2 places on the ice it is a 2 minute minor. For those who say Chara should know where he is on the ice and adjust his play accordingly, I say the same goes for Pacioretty. He should know where he is on the ice and he should also have a pretty good idea of what happens to players who try to take the inside lane on Chara

If Pacioretty didn’t get seriously injured on the play there would be no controversy here which shows how what Chara did can hardly be considered “terrible and dangerous.” Punishing players simply because they injure an opponent sets a dangerous precedent and encourages players to dive and fake injuries. Hockey is a contact sport, injuries are an unfortunate part of contact sports, if you want to see players punished every time somebody gets hurt you should be watching golf instead of hockey

Seriously… Chara? While his collision with Pacioretty may have LOOKED nasty, it was nothing more than an unfortunate accident. Anywhere else on the rink and that incident is nothing more than a two minute interference penalty. I’m all for standardizing punishment, but using the Chara hit as an example is laughable.
