exactly. Ovie may be the fiercest competitor in the game, you know hes gonna do what he can to step his game up and be the best on the ice. gotta love that about him

i’ve been saying the same thing for a while. he is a one trick pony and until he puts work in, the rest of the league should easily keep him at bay. cant complain about 30 goals from anyone but when you are expected to be the best goal scorer and you dont score 50 you better be busting your ass to fix the issue…especially when you have a 100+ million $ contract.

it took until last year for the rest of the league to adjust to how Ovie plays in order to shut him down somewhat. however, Ovie is one of the top 5 players in the league so why wouldnt he be able to make some counter-adjustments for this season? look for him and Backstrom to bounce back in a big way

If Backstroms improvement is tied to Ovechkins numbers returning to where they were then I wouldnt count on his numbers changing too much. Ovechkins physical game has gone from intimidating to reckless so hell probably get suspended again. His offensive game has become predictable (haul ass up the left wing, dart right 4-6 feet inside the blue line, wrist shot between the defensemans legs). Backstrom had better hope the other winger has good hands in front of the net.
