many of the top tier NHL prospects are playing in the CHL, which in addition to better competition means more exposure to teams and scouts. realistically it’s just a better road to the NHL than the NCAA is and I think the draft stats show that (70% of the top 10 came from the CHL in this past draft, 90% the year before)

I haven’t seen alot of NCAA games but I watch tons OHL games every year and the level of competition is extremely high. Next to the NHL it is the most exciting, fast paced hockey out there and the Rangers are the leagues premier franchise. I can fully understand why he and his draft team would want him to play there. I’m a huge fan and I can’t wait to see this kid between the pipes.

Yea it seems that more and more kids don’t want to play NCAA. They rather jump ship and go play Jrs. I guess that’s the way to go because the competition is better? I have no idea. I wouldn’t mind being in this position haha.

Im curious how much influence the teams that drafted them had in these situations. I think teams have been freaked out about getting “Blake Wheelered” by some of these guys. That rule really needs to change.
